Although M. A. Zani de Ferranti performed multiple original works for guitar and string quartet in the 1830s, only one of the compositions was published: God Save the King. It was performed and published in London in 1835. Not only is it his only publication for guitar and string quartet, it is for a guitar tuned to E major. He was well-known for his virtuosity on guitar in both normal and E tuning as evidenced by the many reviews stating this fact. Only three copies of this publication have been located with the full facsimile of one of these originals presented in this edition.
