This volume of 19th century printed and manuscript editions is titled "Pratten Legacy" due to a stamp on the inside of the front cover which reads: “H. -L. -F. Guermonprez. ‘Pratten Legacy.’ 1889.” Guermonprez acquired a number of items from William Sidney Pratten (1820-1882) which were all stamped with the 'Pratten Legacy' stamp, but this volume was the only one known to contain music for the guitar. The music in this volume is all related to William's father, Stephen Pratten (1799-1845). Most of the items can be dated to the 1820-30's but there are a few older items.
An incredibly important item is Luigi Legnani's Op.9. The print carries no opus number, but a Richault catalog of guitar music from the 1850's listed this particular work which allowed me to confirm it is in fact the same. The music is indeed unique among Legnani's known works.
Care was taken to create clear scans, but due to the tight binding of some pieces there may be some distortion at the bound edge. The volume binding is in poor shape causing some items to become loose.
